From Whangārei to Southland, eighteen hospitals across New Zealand are approved for emergency medicine training. All Districts have something different to offer, with some offering regional rural experience, and others offering urban district or major referral experience.

The Training Programme
Each region in New Zealand has its own training programme and we encourage you to seek information about them via the individual Te Whatu Ora District websites (aucklanddoctors.co.nz is the website for the Auckland region). Further information can also be found on the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) – the not-for-profit organisation responsible for training emergency physicians and advancement of professional standards in emergency medicine in New Zealand and Australia.

Eligibility Criteria
The following will be required:
- Preferably six months in Emergency Medicine runs (Paediatric Emergency Medicine is counted)
- A minimum of 2 years clinical experience in a competent/comparable health care system
- To be eligible for General Scope of Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Check if you’re eligible a mcnz.org.nz/registration
