We are looking for a Respiratory Physician providing specialist secondary care services in the lower North Island region.
The Respiratory team currently comprises of three experienced Respiratory Physicians, it also includes nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, sleep and respiratory laboratory technicians/physiologists, and respiratory physiotherapists. The service provides comprehensive specialist outpatient and inpatient respiratory services, and primary health care support including community based clinics. Supporting services on site include radiology, nuclear medicine, radiation and medical oncology.
The position involves the provision of general respiratory inpatient and outpatient services including fibreoptic bronchoscopy, EBUS and reporting on sleep studies and respiratory lung function tests. Knowledge and ability to manage cystic fibrosis patients and any experience in the supervision of respiratory function laboratory is desirable. With the introduction of an EBUS service as well, EBUS skill competency is also desirable. This position may also includes participation in the general medicine call roster and the provision of limited holiday cover for general medicine.
Applicants must be eligible for vocational registration in Internal Medicine with the Medical Council of New Zealand with specialist training / qualification in Respiratory Medicine, as well as having demonstrated clinical, management, and teaching skills and the ability to work effectively within the multi-disciplinary team.
