Job Specification: Consultant Psychiatrist – General Adult Psychiatry
Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist (General Adult) to relocate to Dubai and join a well established hospital/clinic within the UAE’s expanding mental health sector. The successful candidate will provide high-quality psychiatric care to adult patients in outpatient, inpatient, and/or community-based settings, working within a multidisciplinary team and in line with international best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for adult patients
- Manage a caseload of patients with a broad range of general adult mental health conditions
- Lead and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment and care plans
- Provide clinical leadership and support to junior doctors, psychologists, nurses, and allied health professionals
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records in line with local regulatory requirements
- Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and clinical governance
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and carers in a culturally sensitive manner
Essential Requirements
- Specialist qualification in Psychiatry (General Adult) recognised by DHA / MOH / DOH
- Consultant level experience in General Adult Psychiatry (minimum 2 years)
- Eligibility for medical licensure in Dubai (DHA)
- Strong clinical, leadership, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural healthcare environment
- Fluent English (Arabic is an advantage but not essential)
Desirable Experience
- Experience working in private healthcare or international settings
Subspecialty interests within general adult psychiatry (e.g. mood disorders, psychosis, anxiety) - Experience in service development or leadership roles
