Job Specification: Consultant Psychiatrist – General Adult Psychiatry
Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Position Overview
A leading healthcare provider in Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult Psychiatry to join its expanding mental health services. Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide specialist psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for adult patients
- Manage a general adult caseload across outpatient, inpatient, and/or community settings
- Develop and implement evidence-based care and treatment plans
- Lead and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings
- Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and mentoring to junior doctors and allied health professionals
- Maintain high standards of clinical documentation and patient safety in line with DOH requirements
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and carers in a culturally sensitive manner
- Contribute to service development, audit, and clinical governance activities
Essential Criteria
- Recognized specialist qualification in Psychiatry (General Adult)
- Consultant level experience in General Adult Psychiatry
- Eligibility for licensure with the Department of Health (DOH) Abu Dhabi
- Strong clinical, leadership, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work effectively within a multicultural healthcare environment
- Fluent English (written and spoken)
Desirable Criteria
- Previous international or Middle East experience
- Subspecialty interests within General Adult Psychiatry
- Experience in service development, leadership, or clinical governance roles
