A leading government-affiliated healthcare provider in Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced Consultant Pain Management Specialist to join its multidisciplinary pain and rehabilitation service. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a highly structured, well-resourced healthcare system, delivering evidence-based pain management in a modern, patient-centred environment.
The role suits a consultant with strong interventional and multidisciplinary pain management experience and a commitment to improving patients’ quality of life for acute, chronic, and cancer-related pain.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consultant level assessment and management of patients with acute, chronic, and complex pain conditions
- Deliver interventional pain procedures within scope of practice, including but not limited to:
- Epidural and facet joint injections
- Nerve blocks and radiofrequency ablation
- Spinal and musculoskeletal pain interventions
- Manage cancer related pain in collaboration with oncology, palliative care, and multidisciplinary teams
- Develop and oversee individualised, multimodal pain management plans, including pharmacological and non pharmacological approaches
- Participate in outpatient clinics, inpatient consultations, and procedural lists
- Work closely with anaesthetics, orthopaedics, neurology, rehabilitation, physiotherapy, and psychology services
- Contribute to service development, clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
- Participate in on-call duties as per departmental rota (if applicable)
Ensure compliance with local regulatory, ethical, and clinical governance standards
Essential Requirements
- Board-certified / specialist registered Consultant Pain Management Specialist
- Background in Anaesthesiology, Pain Medicine, or related speciality with recognised subspecialty training in Pain Management
- Eligibility for Department of Health –Abu Dhabi (DoH) Consultant licensure
Minimum 3 years post-specialist / consultant level experience in pain management - Proven experience in interventional pain procedures
- Strong multidisciplinary and patient-centred approach to care
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
High standards of professionalism, ethics, and clinical governance
