Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist – Ireland

MatchMedics is partnering with Limerick University Hospital to recruit a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist to join a well-established and progressive Women’s Health service. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality consultant-led care across Obstetrics and Gynaecology, contributing to emergency and elective services, clinical governance, teaching, and service development.

This role offers the opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary consultant team in a major teaching hospital, delivering care aligned with national maternity strategies and HSE clinical governance standards.

Clinical Duties:

• Provide consultant-level care in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, including antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal, and gynaecological services
• Participate in emergency and elective O&G services
• Contribute to the consultant on-call rota
• Deliver care in line with HSE policies, national clinical programmes, and best practice guidelines
• Manage complex and high-risk cases in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams

Leadership & Governance

• Participate in clinical governance, audit, quality improvement, and risk management activities
• Contribute to service planning and continuous improvement within the Women’s Health department
• Support patient safety and clinical effectiveness initiatives

Teaching, Training & Research

• Supervise and teach NCHDs, medical students, midwives, and allied health professionals
• Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate education
  Engage in clinical audit, research, and service development initiatives

Requirements:

·        To register with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) under the Specialist Division for Obstetrics & Gynaecology

·        + 5 years of experience at a Consultant level

·        Experience in OBGYN in a hospital setting

·        Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills

What’s on offer:

·        Salary: €233,527 – €280,513 per year (based on experience)

·        Additional earnings: Extra hours are paid separately and can add up to €40,000+ annually, depending on the hospital

·        Working hours: 37 hours per week

·        Annual leave: 30 days
