Our client is looking for a General Physician to join the department of this hospital based in the North Island of New Zealand. The hospital provides acute internal medicine inpatient and outpatient services, plus a range of sub-specialty services. The hospital is a 359-bed hospital that provides acute general medical services with support from resident specialists in Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Infectious Diseases, Geriatric Medicine, Neurology, Oncology, Haematology and Renal services.

There is the opportunity to undertake planned care in your subspecialist area of practice at both this hospital and another smaller facility covering the same district.

The successful candidate will join a department of Physicians who share acute medical admission and patient management responsibilities. The role includes participation in the acute medical on call roster and responsibility for leading a team that includes a registrar and house officer.

The service roster is designed so that SMOs have time on and off the acute roster to allocate time for participation in planned care delivery. There are teaching opportunities across undergraduate (years 4-6) and postgraduate (basic and advanced trainees) medicine.

Candidates with sup-speciality interests in any medical speciality are welcome and due to the flexible nature of the vacancy; trainees completing training within the next six months are also invited to apply.
Applicants must hold or be eligible for, vocational registrars with the NZ Medical Council.

This is classified as a children’s worker role therefore the successful applicant is subject to the safety check requirements of the Vulnerable Children’s Act 2014.
