Coastal North Island New Zealand — North Island coastal hospital is looking to employ a general physician to join their department of medicine, currently providing general internal medicine inpatient and outpatient services, plus a range of subspecialty services to a population of approximately 260,000. There is the opportunity to also undertake planned care in your subspecialist area of practice. Hospital runs a busy acute general medical service with support from resident specialists in cardiology, respiratory, gastroenterology, endocrinology, rheumatology, infectious diseases, geriatrics, oncology, hematology and Renal services. The successful candidate will join a department of 18 physicians who share general medical responsibilities and will lead a team which includes a registrar and a house officer. The role includes participation in acute medical assessment, admission, and on-call roster. There are teaching opportunities across undergraduate (years 4-6) and postgraduate (basic and advanced trainees) medicine. The North Island of New Zealand is known for its volcanic activity, national parks, and cosmopolitan cities. Surrounded by bays and islands, it’s known as "the City of Sails." At its southern tips is harbourside capital Wellington, home to the national museum, Te Papa.
